San Ysidro Catholic cemetery
San Ysidro Catholic Cemetery in San Miguel County, NM on the Gonzales Ranch was surveyed June 3, 2001 by Catherine Sena/Evans who has given permission for this cemetery record to be placed on display for personal genealogical family research. My son Richard and I repeated twice each grave inscription to keep each other in check. My husband, James (Rick), and son, Garret, helped to photograph some of the gravestones of family members. Catherine Sena/Evans has made this list available as a memorial for her grandparents: Fred L. and Guadalupe (Lopez) Madrid, and great grandparents: Antonio Nerio and Basilia (Lovato) Madrid, and Luciano and Simona (Baca) Lopez, who are buried in this cemetery.
Beginning in Warrensburg, Missouri enroute to visit our son Kenneth J. Love and family in Rio Rancho, Albuquerque. My family and I took the Clines Corner cut off north of I-40 towards Las Vegas, New Mexico we drove about 7 miles and took a right on Santa Fe County road 24 C. We turned east on this long winding dirt road about 35 miles till we reached Gonzales Ranch in San Miguel County, New Mexico. In the background a mountain with the initials written in stone GR for Gonzales Ranch loomed over this friendly community.
We stopped first at Matias Gonzales house to ask for directions to the San Ysidro Catholic Church Cemetery where my grandparents are buried. Mr. Gonzales was very nice and courteous to take us there. We followed him to the cemetery, which was just a block away.
Mr. Matias Gonzales opened the gates to the Cemetery where we stopped to talk briefly. He knew my grandparents and my parents. He took me to where my grandmother was buried, and where my grandfather was buried also. My grandparents were: Fred (Federico) L. Madrid and Guadalupe Lopez.
Mr. Matias Gonzales family on record is the following: Matias Gonzales married Rosa Gonzales. His parents were: Macario Gonzales and Lola Dolores Gonzales. His siblings are: Petra, Marcella, Rebecca, Ernestine, Eloy, Fabian, and Elan Gonzales
He had a key to the church and allowed us to take photographs of the inside of the church also. A much appreciated Thank you to Mr. Matias Gonzales from Gonzales Ranch.
A special Thank you to my family, which helped me to record the San Ysidro Church Cemetery in San Miguel County, New Mexico. A day, that has burned in my heart to record, for some time now.
