Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 5:12 PM.   Subject: Quay Query.    I have located a relative on the 1910 Prct 28 Curry, Quay County, her name is Viola Brock.  She is in the household of Isaac F. Thompson who is widowed.  Viola's widowed mother ran off with the hired man in 1900 leaving her children abandoned.  She evidently was "adopted" by the Isaac Thompson family.  I did find her obituary from Kern County CA with her last name as Avant (she and her sisters ended up in Bakersfield California in the 1950's and reunited, all having been raised by different families) I am trying to locate any kind of record to identify who she married and any of the Thompson relatives to see what oral history they have.  I have been unable to locate Viola after 1910, but believe based on her SSN she probably resided in Arizona after they began issuing cards.  Any help of any kind greatly appreciated.

****From the Clavel Family history, page 242 in the Quay County History book:

A stableboy from France and a grandaughter of the Surgen General of the Confedeate Army were the beginning of a pioneer family of Tucumcari.   Celestin Joseph Clavel came to the United States from France at the age of 12 with his father.  They settled in Kansas.

He came to Tucumcari when the railroad was being built around 1897. His railroad job took him to Carizozo where met Bernice Lane.  They were married in 1910 and shortly thereafter they moved to Tucumcari where he worked for the SP Railroad.

In the 1920s Jo purchased a ranch in the Norton area.  They had four childen and nine  grandchilden. Joe died in Dec. 1940.  Bernice died August 17, 1981.  (The story has a picture of Joe and Bernice Clavel.)

Sent: Tuesday, September 02, 2003 11:50 AM.   Subject: Quay Query.   I would like to know if there was an article in your local newspaper that gave an account of an accident occurring in or around July 1914 involving John N. LOGAN, who was apparently employed by the Post Office & was killed while delivering mail in the surrounding area.  His team of horses became runaways & his wagon overturned & he was killed.  For some reason his grave hasn't been located in the Ima Cemetery & I don't understand that.  His wife's grave hasn't been located there either & I'm certain that she died in Ima as well.  Her name was Mary Eliza LOGAN.  Their baby "Baby LOGAN is buried there & that has been confirmed.  I was able to get a listing off the Internet with the names of those people buried at Ima Cemetery & I do see a listing for a Mr. & Mrs. LOGAN-- graves 31 & 32 (Baby Logan is grave 30 so I assume these are of the same family).  I would appreciate it if someone out there has information regarding the accidental death of John N LOGAN.  Thank you.  Judy Williams .  tnrzmom@localnet.com

Sent: Saturday, August 30, 2003 3:46 PM.   Subject: Quay Query.   My ancestors David A. Clark and Sarah A. (Comer) Clark moved to New Mexico  from Missouri some time after the 1870 Census.  He was issued land grants in 1912 and 1913 in Quay County.  He left Missouri, went to Oklahoma, then on to New   Mexico.  From this point on I have no record of him.  I know that his  descendants are still in New Mexico and some left from there and went to Texas.  Is  anyone familiar with this Clark family.  I would love to hear from you!   Barbara "Clark" Gressel bgressel@aol.com.
